Aware of a true need building in some of our student populations, MetroPCS and Culver Public Relations partnered to provide a solution. Since 2014, Culver Public Relations has planned, managed and executed a public awareness campaign for MetroPCS’ Back To School campaign in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
- MetroPCS invites DFW-area families to stop by local events in 32 of their stores during the month of August to pick up free cinch sacks filled with school supplies. Each school supply kit includes a backpack, pencil bag, standard ruler, pencils, pens, glue stick, eraser, folder, crayons, and a spiral notebook.
- Culver Public Relations developed a strategy to generate positive awareness, buzz and participation in the Back-to-School campaign for families needing school supplies. The campaign objective was to also build a higher profile and strengthen awareness for MetroPCS while inviting the public to MetroPCS stores.
- The initiative included developing, distributing and posting community calendar listings and targeting “mommy bloggers” to get the word out that the school supplies were available. Media materials were written and sent to targeted local English and Spanish language media for print and online news coverage. PSAs were written and sent to targeted radio stations.
- RESULTS: Over a short two months, more than 46 media placements were garnered about the event in major daily newspapers, online news, Spanish language newspapers, digital community calendar blogs and with social influencers.
